of wide mouth thermos in a

A thermos
bottle expands possibilities when taking your lunch or packing your
picnic. Hot or cold, drinks and food stay at their most
appetizing.
The
original vacuum flask was invented by Sir James Dewar, a scientist at
Oxford University in 1892. These early flasks, sometimes
called
Dewar flasks, were made of glass, with an outer and inner container
separated by a vacuum which ensured the reduction of heat transfer by
convection or conduction. In 1903 German glass engineer
Reinhold
Burger, who had studied the effect of double-walled glass containers
for years improved the design to make sure the layer of
silver
used to reflect the heat radiation would not flake off. To
protect the glass he covered the flask in a lightweight metal casing
and also added the screw-on cup. The first vacuum flasks for
commercial use came in 1904 with Burger's own slogan "Keeps it cold,
keeps
it hot - without fire and ice". In 1909 Burger sold the patent to the
company Charlottenburger Thermos AG and in 1920 the thermos flask went
into series production, becoming a worldwide best seller.
Wide
Mouth Thermos come in a range of materials - glass with a polyurethane
jacket is less expensive but vulnerable to damage. Stainless steel is
unbreakable but comes at a higher cost. All should have
double-wall vacuum insulation. The styles available range
from
individual mug size to tubs and jugs for use in the home. The
suppliers above should give you great choice, many at bargain prices.
